I was thinking about this today and didn't know so I thought I would ask.
If you had a 12 string and only strung it for 6, would the neck get all messed up without the added tention?
Just curious...

I doubt it. I've done it before a lot of times (once I used 6 strings on a 12 for several years and never noticed any problems).

A fella at the local guitar shop suggested that I do just that when I was bitchin about my hands and fingers bein too big to make certain chords. He said that would give me all the neck I would ever need.

Anyway, that's why I did it too, because I like a wide neck for fingerstyle. Until I finally got that old '34 Gibson which has a helluva wide neck on it already.

Bad, Dad...real bad, but I did read your posts about your little road trip, and it made me feel nice to read that the art of "Shine" is alive and well in the south.

Too big fingers?
I'm struggling hard to get that right in a certain tune:

8-----------------e
5-----------------B
6-----------------G
4-----------------D
-----------------A
-----------------E
5-----------------B
6-----------------G
4-----------------D
-----------------A
-----------------E
But I'm struggling on a classical, on acoustic it's easy.

Yep, got those hands that palm basketballs, and those long fingers aren't the slim graceful ones either, ring finger is size 13.
The ladies always say I have nice hands..haha.
I guess too big fingers are way better than two big fingers.
What chord is that, grzegorz?

Good to know...I was thinking if 12 strings are only like 50 bucks more for their 6 string counter part...maybe it would be worth it just in case I had the urge to do some 12 stringing...
Thanks guys
