i'd recommend checking out acoustic versions of these Michelle Branch songs:

Fall
Game of Love w/ Santana
You Get Me
Leap of Faith
Everywhere

and oh so many others I've yet to discover I'm sure.

Well, if you want to break up with your b/f, I would try some avril lavigne.

On a more serious note, i've said it once (if anyone even noticed) and I'll say it again, girls fall for Extreme's - More Than Words. It would work good for the other sex as well. That may be a little difficult for a beginner, however.

Hmmm.......what else.....Dashboard Confessional - Hands Down....just switch "Your legs are smooth as they graze mine" to something like say "Your lips are smooth, as they taste mine" or you can use "kiss mine" or keep "graze mine." Anyway, it's emo, so I don't know what your into....

EDIT: I forgot to say that I agree that Michelle Branch does have some good songs.

Hi
I've been playing two years now and I'm female, play the things you like it dont matter if its a boy or girl song. Just change a few of the words. and it will sound ok.
when you are first learning try and play what you love and like.
it makes it easier because you know how is goes.

When i first started playing It was blowing in the wind and wonderful tonight and i sang, them as well.
Alanis Morresette has some nice songs if you can manage the barr chords, but they take time.

And remember one thing if he loves you he wont care what you play my husband has put up with me playing and singing for all this time and hes still here.

Dust in the Wind by Kansas or Every Rose has it's Thorn by Poison

Usually I woudl say John Mayer but that should only work on girls...if it worked on a guy I would be worried, ver very worried wink.gif

Did you only want female vocalists?

I recommend the Bee Gees, their old Folk-Rock stuff are by far some of the best love songs ever written. Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Fleetwood Mac all have great songs with good guitar parts.

Edit: If you play something emo, like Dashboard, try not to sing as annoyingly as he does. God, "YOUR HAIR IS EVERYWHERE" I hate that freaking band, they use the same structure, in like, all their stuff. Carrabba is such a whiner, and a crappy guitar player...anyway...

Dashboard confessional! if ur a beginner, his songs are really simple and sweet and even i can sing along with them (my voice sucks!). a good one for your bf would be... ender will save us all or bend and not break, but all his songs really are beautiful love songs i know ull like them. and if not, a good love song that i like playing on acoustic is saves the day-hold. and also the starting line -lasting impression. gosh i could go on forevor im a big acoustic-emo fan! but all of those songs are really great songs. i hope i helped you, i think thats really cute that ur doin that for him! you dont hear girls playing for guys much, its mostly the other way around. good luck!

i dont think it makes a difference, like i dont listen to any girl singers, and i dont play any female singing songs. But most of the time songs work both boys, cus its the emotion really that wins people over, not necassarily weather or not their sayin "HE OR SHE", and u can always twist the words around, and make it special. so your boy doesnt feel odd.. lol.

THAT IS SOO SHALLOW OF YOU! I SERIOUSLY FEEL OFFENDED! DONT DISS EMO UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT ITS ABOUT AND YOU OBVIOUSLY DO NOT CONSIDERING YOU CALLED DASHBOARD "WHINY, AND ANNOYING"! NOT ALL EMO EVEN SOUNDS ANYTHING LIKE DASHBOARD. EMO COVERS A VERY WIDE RANGE OF MUSIC THAT YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH SO DONT USE THE TERM TO DESCRIBE WHAT DASHBOARD SOUNDS LIKE. SCREAMING INFIDELITIES IS ONE SONG, + ITS PROBABLY THE ONLY ONE SONG YOUVE HEARD OF THEIRS, SO I SUGGEST YOU GO OUT AND BUY THEIR CDS (THE ONES WITH THE SONGS THAT DONT GET PLAYED ON MTV ON IT) BE4 YOU GO AND MAKE AN ASSUMPTION. I REALIZE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO AN OPINION, BUT I STILL THINK THAT IS A REALLY RUDE AND UNEDUCATED COMMENT. I DONT GO AND DISS THE BEE GEES AND WHAT NOT. CHRIS IS A VERY TALENTED MUSICIAN AND SINGER, HAVE YOU HEARD ALL OF HIS STUFF?? IM SURE YOU HAVENT CUS ITS NOT ALL THE SAME STRUCTURE. AND HELL, IF THE GIRLS TRYIN TO PLAY SOMETHING SWEET FOR HER BOYFRIEND, SHES GONNA WANT SOMETHING EMOTIONAL. HINT.. THATS WHERE "EMO" COMES FROM. DONT GO AND USE TERMS YOUR UNFAMILIAR WITH, CUS YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT THE SCENE IS ABOUT.

this is a cool topic.
My g/f loves it when i play guitar when we're lounging around.
She, however cant play a guitar..but we just make up songs together all the time. i play something and she sings some stuff.

one day she asked me if i knew adam sandlers "grow old with you"...and i laughed and said yes...
I played it and to my suprise she sang it to me.

sometimes guys..(me in particular) like it when our girls sing something funny to us. dont be afraid of the comedy route...it totally worked on me! and i was her slave for the rest of the day...lol
