i wanted to play my acoustic but there was a broken string and all i had were 10-52 electric strings, i put them on- i thought they would be crapand really loose and light but they are actually nice to play and quite good. ( unlike the time i accidentally put 14's in standard on my strat copy).
i know all steel strings are essentially the same but does anyone else use strings meant for an electric on their acoustic?

Usually it isn't a good idea...they take different tentions to get to the same note. So over time or if you switch guages you could end up hurting the neck or trust rod.
Not saying it can't be done or anything but they are labeled for a reason

There is a fine line between insanity and genius and I think i crossed it...but what side I am on is still unclear.

Bronze or brass will deliver a much better tone (but Merle Travis used exclusively electric strings on his acoustic. He didn't want to be bothered buying two kinds of strings!

one of my friends used electric ernie ball strings on his yamaha. the tone sucked and the volume was noticeably lower. sounded a little bit too twangy and not having that full acoustic string sound. the otherside of that though was that he could bend way easier and it was a little easier on the fingers. i would stick to acoustic strings
