I'd rather not label someone as being the "best"...I mean there aren't the posts on this forum to really justify an award, and empty rewards make good rewards feel as though they are worth less.

I mean really it would only be the person who saw the "how do I string my guitar" post first, or maybe the ole fav. "what kind of guitar can I get" as soon as it popped up.

I am/was proud to win the GTU'er of the Week and it felt good...if every forum has a award, they all will be dilluted with posts.

I am fine with not having a AGD gtu'er of the week, everyone here does a really good job!

its not about 'the best' gtuer.......it just recognizes helpful people in this forum. i mean if someone is extremely helpful in this forum but doesn't really answer alot in GQA then they don't get selected for Gtuer of the week. i just think it would be nice because this forum does have alot of helpful people.......not to mention this might make this forum a little more exciting

I think most folks here are a bit more mature, and aren't in need of the "special" recognition, but if that's what most want to do, then I spect I'm wrong.....now that doesn't happen often.

If you're going to have a person of the week from the acoustic forum, then I can save you alot of time and trouble....just give it to ole Dad now. Not to be dis-respectable to anyone else, but who is always the man with the answers?

Dadfad.

Just what does the person of the week get out of it anyway....a wall plaque....watch.....movie tickets.....money....T-shirt? I think just knowing that ya helped somebody out is all folks need.

Am I wrong here?

This is a slow forum...nothing is going to make it more exciting, except more questions, and more answers, but there aren't may that are strictly acoustic...and if so dadfad answers them... wink.gif

Just please don't do a pole... laugh.gif

We all realize that Dadfad is a great help to us all but, IMHO, I think do Goldrush (Sorry, I'm not good with names ph34r.gif ) deserves a mention, as well as Troy.

Yes, in a way it's childish, but it's also just a way of saying: 'Hey, we appreciate the help/input'. It's those kind of people who make the forum tick. Where you acually get descent answers (No dis-respect to the other forums: But alot of cr@p gets written in there sometimes...)

And I will sponsor a week in a private game lodge over here for anyone of you old guys winning. They just have to get here wink.gif

Isn't South Africa a war zone...or has the media just blown things out of proportion?

Let's see how much that would be:

Only about 2100 round trip... laugh.gif

laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif Yes it is! manufacturing granades is very profitable (sp?). We don't have tar roads and there's no electricity. In fact, my pc runs on parafine cool.gif

Seriously, Troy, you will only hear about our country when a tourist gets shot, mugged or whatever. But it's not as bad as the press make it sound. As with a lot of countries, there are places where you just shouldn't go...

But then you can work at places with views like this....

dry.gif OK, not the best picture. Yes, Troy, working on a porch, looking at the big five & other animals is probably better than being stuck in rush-hour traffic on the way to a job behind a desk in an office... (Sorry Dadfad, and anyone else I might have offended rolleyes.gif )

No offense taken, Lian. You're right about that. (The only good thing about my job is that the hours are so long I rarely have to contend with rush hour traffic! laugh.gif )

(And someday I hope to be able to take you up on that offer!)

I don't really post in the other forums so I didn't know there was a GTUer of the week. Goes to show what I know. Anyway, I don't really care either way, we don't really need something like that here, I mean, we're real guitar players so there's our reward right there.

I'll nominate Guitarfan19, for being a nice enough guy to think that guys (and girls) who post in this forum are worthy of recognition.

DADFAD: a class act all the way. As a person he is one of a kind, and as a human he is one of the kindest. [Goldrush wipes away a tear and continues drinking.... wink.gif ]

J/K about the tear and drinking part. Seriously, we are extremely fortunate to have DADFAD as a resource here at GTU. His vast musical experience and expertise are a continual source of instruction and inspiration. His wit and humility further compliment his charm and personality. His knowledge of music history is extensive and, these days, quite rare. Oh, what the heck, DADFAD will you marry me? laugh.gif Just don't tell my wife.....

Just be careful when your flying over Jo'burg. With the war going on, there's a slight chance that the plane might get shot down....

(Sorry, I just couldn't resist biggrin.gif )

Hearing (reading) someone say a post helped is the reward in itself. As I've said before, we all started at exactly the same place once, with a guitar in our hand thinking "Now what?" We'd all still be in that place if it wasn't for the help of others.
