Hey guys, I played a gig about two weeks ago and I realized the pickup in my classical (a fishman classic 4) is okay for strummy and travis style pop songs, but not cutting it when I have to play some fingerstyle instrumentals. I tried playing some Spanish stuff, and frankly, it didn't sound the greatest. Now I realize this may partly be the fault of my Rogue Keyboard amp (It has reverb!) which I was using, but I think I could probably get a better pickup installed. But when I took it to the shop they said they didn't see anything in the catalog to replace it with, and I know they were wrong, any recommendations? I have a show in about a week and a half and some info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are a couple of pop-in and stick-on pick-ups that are pretty decent for the price. The Acoustic Tube and the Shadow 2000. I have both. Of course I prefer a mic, and then a Fishman Blender system, but I've used both and they weren't bad. I keep one or the other in my gig-bag for "sound reinforcement emergencies". Both have volume controls and the Shadow also has a tone control. Neither require a pre-amp and both are under a hundred dollars.
(If you're playing a classical, with nylon strings, the stick-on (Shadow) would probably work best. The Tube probably works on magnetic response.)

Un-plugged is not the same as

Okay, the shadow's a transducer right? Who makes that and where can I find it? And doesn't Fishman make some higher end pickups that I could get installed? I was so disheartened by my last show that I'm starting to like the sound of an Ovation, I'd really like a Takamine, but I'm in college that's not happenin'.
