Thanks Paulie.
Well let see what will come out of that pin; if it turns into a battle of preferences it can always disappear. I'll give it a week trial.
The intention is to find out what people think and if any good suggestions could
come out of it; a kind of questions/answers thread. If it turns out to be a moaning and
whining thing, well too bad, i'll delete it asap.

Doing a great job Dorio - keep it up man!
Indeedy
I concur. I'd like to see more track listings, lists of the players, and generally more thoroughness in the non-dorio-written reviews, but that's not really a big problem. It's going great.

HAY ... Thanks for the kind words, but i'm only doin' my job, and i try to do it well
Alright Tuning Spork i see what you mean. As far as i'm concerned each reviews should
include the cover, a track listing, details on the production, year of release, personel &
guests (if any) ...
I have to add the cover and the album infos on most reviews i receive. It would be nice
if our reviewers could send me the cover along with the reviews.
I'm thinking about reviewing 'Let It Be Naked' as vince has reviewed the 1970 release.
The way things are goin' we'll soon hit the 7th page

May I suggest "Toys In The Attic" from Aerosmith.
You could write that yourself if you wanted
I'm sure he could if he really wanted to ; depending his personal affection for that album. And it so happens that we don't have any Aerosmith yet !
Now this being said, i'd be glad if you'd make your requests in the discussion thread
as this one was intended to hear the suggestions users could bring in order to make
this forum a very friendly one. And also the complaints you may come up with (if any) !
Thanks !

Yeah good question ! This forum could as well be called "Albums Reviews Gallery"
or something like that.
But it's called Influential / essential albums instead which is also good, because most of the albums reviewed here, are (or have been) influential for some people and they're still essential for others.
Musical influences can be very different and that's what reflects here; i receive all
those reviews from different people from different parts of the world, and half of
those people prefer to send reviews of great classics albums and the other half sends reviews of their favourite bands because it's about those bands they know the most, and it's because of those bands they started to learn to play guitar.
When i took over from paulie jay, i became responsible for the submissions. So far i've not rejected a review. Because as aforementioned, all those albums we read about in this forum, have influenced people somewhere and are essential (maybe not for you or me) for many.
As a footnote: you can relax, the real non influential / essential albums reviews won't make it in here !

are you allowing people to review anything or is there someone who decides if the album is essential or influential?

I think it should be added that albums can be influential in many different ways - not just in ways that rock guitarists think are influential. There are many bass heavy albums with little guitar that have been massively influential for bassists, many albums that have been of influence stylistically and lyrically, many albums that have influenced a generation to get off their butts and start making music (lets say early Bob Dylan records for instance). These albums may not necessarily feature any big rock-guitar solos. But so what? This isn't a world of one music style. "Rockin' At The Hops" hasn't got a review here either, but without it The Rolling Stones wouldn't be here today.
I copped a bucketing for allowing a Justin Timberlake review to appear in this forum, but I still stand by the arguments I expressed in that thread.
