In my opinion, for the styles I play, Gibson made the finest acoustics ever built. I have several (I also have a Taylor and a couple of Martins. Nice guitars, but I prefer my Gibsons). And welcome to GTU.

No problem. The J-45s and the J-100s are nice and throaty (especially the 45s). The smaller L or 0 models are a little less powerful but very nice to play. It just depends what you're into musically.

Gibson are the best factory produced acoustic guitars in my opinion. Lovely guitars, try a few. Also, look out for some well looked after second hand models.

the acoustic i play is an old gibson from like the 70's, and id have to say that it is the nicest acoustic iv ever played. iv also picked up a few new ones that are also really nice. gibsons are great, expensive, but great.

It must be jsut me, but the only GREAT sounding Gibsons i've played are over $3000. I've played a few 1000 - 1999 dollar gibsons, and they just didn't do it for me. I couldn't tell you the model, but to tell you the truth, it could have been the strings. At guitar center, I saw Fender electric strings on a Martin (where I have played all the gibsons i've ever played). rolleyes.gif

That's how stupid these people at GC are.....

Gibson = quality in almost all cases. smile.gif

I've heard the only consistent thing about Gibson is thier inconsistency. They can make a beautifully sounding instrument, but I've heard of some of the newer ones with the bridge or the nut being set off to the side (easily visible by the naked eye). I'd thouroughly inspect the guitar you want to buy. But I still want a J-200.

I fell in love with a Gibson J-45 at a music store, I would have bought it on the spot if I had the money....she will be mine, oh yes, she will be mine.

The same can apply to any instrument - try before you buy.

I think the J-150 is one sexy guitar, I have never played personally but have seen others play on numerous occasions and boy do I love the sound the guitar. I did mention in a previous post that they are a bit pricey, but its not actually too bad now that I think about it considering how long they have been making guitars and what kind of reputation they have. I honestly think I'm in love.
