i was playing a couple tracks live on the radio the other day...
to give some background info my capo broke a while back... well the spring did, so i have to stuff paper in to make it work, so as i was stuffing paper to prep for when i was playing, the paper slips and my thumb is impaled on the hook for the spring... at first i thought it just hit it and it would hurt... nope... full on BLEEDING LIKE A MOFO.
so i've got blood coming out of my poor old picking thumb (and i'm a fingerpicker) so naturally i'm screwed. and suddenly i'm on. i actually got through "fire and rain" and "needle and the damage done" i decided to throw on "you've got to hide your love away" for good measure... let's just say it was anything but good... the pain got so bad i forgot the words and screwed up the chords... a very simple song slaughtered by a man who can play classical gas with his eyes closed... talk about embarassment. i never felt so bad. the first two songs went really well and came off without a hitch. but the problem was that everytime i picked with my thumb, i opened the wound again... long story short.... i have red strings.

That is indeed a badass story. Must've felt bad when it happened, but it'll be really funny soon. This is why people should carry superglue wherever they go.
Are you going to buy a new capo now?

Not a bad story. Maybe that's why Hendrix started playing with his teeth.
Will wait to see what others add: Mybe a story from someone who broke a string on their gut-stringed guitar and didn't have a replacement so they took out their pocketknife, slit their stomach open, and pulled out part of their intestines to make a new string. Maybe someone else will tell us their guitar's neck broke and they replaced it quickly with their Grandpa's wooden leg using only tape and staples.

Yes, Super Glue is an important thing in a gig-bag. I don't remember if I've ever used it for a repair, but it's been used to glue cuts on my fingers together lots of times! Great story!

I read that and I was on the floor laughing.
But vince, that's a pretty good one. My uncle was set to play a gig one time and he broke his wrist. He didn't find a way to play it though, he was in the hospital!

great story...very rock and roll. (even though you were slow finger pickin)
well i was going to play classical gas.... but the other DJ decided to play chet atkins' version... so playing the same song twice isnt' a great idea... not only that but i would have been crying by the end of it. that and i really wasn't up for making a fool of myself in comparison to chet....
i'm thankful i didn't pick "bron-yr-aur" or "dust in the wind"..... ugh.... travis picking.
