I need to get some new strings for my acoustic. I haven't quite found the right size, material, or brand strings. I am looking for a good full sound, not really too twangy. I am not fond of the lights. If you could, give some suggestions for an ideal size, material, and brand acoustic strings for a nice rich flavor and full sound. thanks.

Well, it would probably help to know what type of guitar you have, the string brand, size and material will depend fairly heavy on that. Is your guitar a dreadnought, folk, orchestra model, grand auditorium? Does it have solid woods, such as a solid spruce top and what are the back and sides made of and are they solid or laminate?

The guitar i want to restring is a takamine eg523sc. It is supposed to be a jumbo, but it isn't quite the same size as a gibson jumbo. Just a little smaller. It has a solid top, laminated sides and back. Right now i have some d'addorio lights on it. Good for country stuff, but i am in search of a richer, fuller sound. Suggestion?

I recommend D'Addario EXP phosphor Bronze lights or mediums, that should be pretty sufficient, GHS phosphor bronze lights or mediums will also do a good job.

I like D'Addario phosphor-bronze Bluegrass Guage (don't let the name fool you!) which is a hybrid set with thicker 4,5,6 strings for more bass response.

How are you liking the EG-523SC? It is a gorgeous guitar in my mind but have seen mixed reviews on it. BTW I use Elixir Polyweb light to medium gauges, have you tried those out yet?
