That's cool, brand is never as important as the player and the individual quality of the guitar. Generally, I don't like Fender, but I think they have some nice guitars at there, though I will emphasize the SOME in that sentence :-)

What ever feels good and is in your price range. My first new acoustic was a Fender (but way back then they were American-made, of solid woods). It still plays fine for what it is. Whatever works is alright. A really nice high-quality guitar hanging on a store-wall because it isn't affordable doesn't do anyone much good!

ive been playing for 2 -3 yrs now....a mate of mine i use to live with was a gun on the guitar, hes also really good on the harmonica...so he taught me some 12 bar blues and a few solo licks so that we could play together....it was awesome..he got me started and we still jam together when we can... he played a mean guitar... he use to have this old plywood guitar with stickers all over it...and just the tone and the sound he could extract from it was amazing..it really was
im sure if he had a gibson or whatever it would have sounded so much better but never the less hes a class act.... good on ya boy!
but lately ive been mainly been teaching myslef with friends showing me bits and pieces along the way.... this website has also been a huge help with tabs and advice etc... i take my hat off to you guys that regularly post... its always good to have someone point you in the right direction

Yes, just play the best you can comfortably afford. It's probably 90% guitarist and only 10% guitar when it comes right down to it. I've seen amazing stuff played on guitars that most guitarists wouldn't bother fishing out of the trash on garbage day. Of course a great guitar is a great guitar and nothing wrong with having the best you can either. One good thing too about old guitars (un-like old people I'm afraid)....... there's a place in this world for them when they get old and and worn out. Open-tuned slide.
