I'm treating myself to a new guitar next Christmas (not this, next. Got to save first sad.gif )

Thing is I have a gimpy middle finger on my fretting hand, that can flop onto two strings, I have to tape it up, no other way, it's never stopped me playing though.

I was thinking that a wider nut would help me out in the dodgy finger department.

What's the widest acoutic guitars go up to, not including classical guitars. Does anyone know? And do parlour size guitars tend to have a more narrow nut, seeing as the guitar is a smaller size?

Any answers, or advice you might have will be greatly appreciated.
What does their family tree look like? A stump!?

I think 44mm is around standard these days.Older guitars tend to have bigger nuts as do smaller size ones like the 00's as they are considered more for finger picking and the wider the nut the wider the string spaceings. The widest i know of is the 34 jumbo that Dadfad owns haveing a 48mm nut.Ive not known a steel string with a nut that large. But i dont think you will get one of them too easy even if you wanted to.
