ok i got my first guitar the other day and my dad offered to pay for lessons. The guy at the music store said it was $50.00 for a month and it is 4 lessons a month (1 a week). Im thinkin this is a really good deal but i havent looked into lessons anywhere else so i just thought i would ask and see what everyone else says. I think it works out to $12.50 a lesson.

How long do the lessons last? I had lessons for £5 a week, one hour. Also, is the teacher any good?

Find out if he's good first. See if he is following any set teaching guidelines or examination scheme. See if anyone you know has had lessons from him. It's best to know what you're dealing with before turfing out money. Lessons are good things to have, but it's best to make sure you get them from a good teacher.

See, I pay $60 a lesson for one hour for once a week, and I have to travel about 75 miles to my lessons too. My car gets about 23 mpg 75/23= about 3*2 for travel there and back=about 6*about $2 a gallon=$12+$60=about $72 a lesson. But my instructor is the best of the best of classical guitar players.
