I haven't played a Guild 12-string recently, although the Guild-12 used to be the standard by which others were judged kind of. They made pretty nice ones. Taylor makes good ones too (the K-65 is my favorite). Contrary to what I usually think about acoustic guitars, Gibson's are not the best (from a guy who has three Gibson 12s!). The Guild is probably a pretty nice guitar. They sure used to be.

I heard taylor 12's weren't very good, I considered getting one. I've played the guild, and some gibsons. I think the gibbys are better than taylor.

The only Taylor-12 I really liked was the K-65. It was warm yet crisp and separated and for the couple of hours I played it, it stayed in tune pretty well. I almost bought it. It was between that and a Gibson J-185-12 for the same price. I bought the new Gibson because it went on sale for about five hundred less than the K-65 (which I regret now). Not a bad guitar, just not as good. I have a vintage 60s B-25-12 Gibson which is sometimes nice and sometimes "mushy" sounding (it's moody I guess!). And an ES-335-12 (which doesn't really count, being electric!). But Guild has always been noted for its 12-strings since the late-fifties/early-60s folk-days.
