Download a guitar neck with all the natural guitar notes on it (no sharps or flats), or write something out yourself, stick it on your wall, look at it everyday. Play the chords you know already, and look at the notes that make up that particular chord. You'll find a chord is usually named after the lowest note in that chord, that's the "root note." A basic chord can be just three notes. 1st, 3rd and 5th notes of the major scale, sometimes just two notes will do!
I would say, buy beginner book. There's plenty of them about now, or look for basics on the internet. Learn the basic chords at the top of the neck. Learn the major scale all over the neck. Things might start making more sense then.
Learning just some of the basics will help you play some of the easy songs you're having trouble with. Lot's of the easy pop songs move in certain directions depending on the key a particular piece is in, knowing these things for yourself will help imeasurably. These basics are very easy to understand too. Get a good book, like I say, there's loads now.
PS. I think typing in "text speak" annoys people.

when u feel confident with the guitar then start getting into theory
