Is a guitar that is not made of real wood less subject to damage by the weather? I have a Martin DXK2, I know it's not the kind that most people would have gone for, and someone bought me one of those little humidifiers that you leave in the guitar, but since mine's not real wood do I need it?

a wooden guitar and a synthetic wooden guitar are still subject to weather.
cold can cause the glues in both to pull away and such, but thats not what you need to know.
moisture will cause damage over time to both. maybe wood a little more, but never the less, both will sustain some damage if left in exposure to excessive moisture. so it depends if you have a lot of moisture where you keep your guitar. if its in a basement, yeah, definately. but anywhere else in your house it should be ok.
but it won't hurt to put it in anyway.
