i have my acoustic tuned to drop B. i know that's kind of a weird tuning for acoustic, but i came across something that sounded cool.

this may be a reason, but its a right handed guitar and i've restrung it because i'm lefty. i know that has something to do with it.

so my question is, if i adjusted the truss rod, would that help to cut down on the buzzing?

i'm somewhat afraid to really do anything because i'm not too experienced with things like this. but i can't really play anything, and even in standard tuning, it still buzzes bad.

I wouldn't adjust the truss rod in this case. Drop B is detuning the e-strings 5 steps! That is a lot of reduction in string tension that is causing the buzz. One thing you might want to try is tune to drop D and see if it works for the song. If you find that you are tuning down a lot then maybe you should think about having the truss rod adjusted, but if you're doing it only occasionally then it's not worth it.

Edit: I just caught that you are getting buzz in standard tuning also. If your guitar was set up for medium gauge strings (like alot are) and you're playing light gauge that could be the problem. Otherwise take it to a luthier and have him adjust the action, but don't have him adjust it for Drop B tuning unless you plan on playing in that tuning a lot!

thanks for the advice. my friend who i'm staying with knew someone that could fix it. he adjusted it, so now i'm good down to standard D.

i usually play out of standard E, Eb and D. the drop B was for a slipknot song. but i have a borrowed fender mustang ( i think that's the name of it ) to keep in drop B. that does it nicely.

when i get a few more guitars, i'll keep one in each tuning. but for now i have one.
