that's a broad question. it all depends on your price range, what type of music u play......and so on. but if you want to know what each person feels is the best guitar they've ever played, i'd say a taylor 514. if u want to know the best guitar ever, i'd say i dunno.

Everyones different so whats best for one isnt going to be for another. Its down to personal taste.Realisticly speaking though the best guitars are not going to be your Martins, your gibsons, your taylors, your santa cruz ect ect. They are going to be your hand made jobs buy people that you have most likely never heard of.

Agreed, a custom job made especially to cater to your needs and tastes is going to be "the best" for you. What is the best for you isn't necessarily the best for everyone else mind...

I agree with anyone else on that question. It's all about what YOU feel is comfortable for you. I really think it comes down to what you are looking to spend on a guitar. I mean, for $400-$800, you could get a good Alvarez or Ibanez, but if you just won the lottery or you really want to throw some cha-ching down, something like a Martin or a Gibson should work great! Excellent question!

It's true, a good guitar all depends on what your price range is. I play a Yamaha for example and although everyone thinks yamaha isn;t a good company I love it. It;s a Yamaha FG-412S and i picked it up brand new for about 600 canadian so just go out and try diff guitars, don't focus on what it looks like but the sound and feeling....one more tip..STAY AWAY FROM BEGINNER GUITARS!

I have a Hohner with Martin strings. It makes a beautiful sound... I dunno how much it was because I got it off my cousin...

very sweet sounding mid price range acoustic electric: Yamaha Compass CPX5

sounds sweet plugged or uplugged.

Then there's the acousitc electrics that they keep behind the glass cases in the music shops....you'll pay like $1,500+ for these top of the line types.

I heard Ovations were nice but only played one and wasn't impressed by that one.

I did like how it could be plugged into an electric guitar pedal and it sounded like a really good electric. weird I know but true. blink.gif

but as for getting a great acousitc sound from it.....wasn't able to.

yeah I got the Yamaha Compass CPX5 on sale for only $400. Good enough to take on stage. Later though I'll want to upgrade when I'm making some good change.

I played several acoustics before I bought my Martin. I liked it's sound best. And since it is a DM it wasn't overly expensive...about $570. It has a spruce top and rosewood frets but the sides and back are composite. Still a nice Martin sound nonetheless. If you get the one without the inlays it is a little cheaper.

Obviously a luthier hand made job.

But what guitar is the best? Depends what you want to use it for. tongue.gif

I've got an Alvarez Electric Acoustic that sounds really good. Bought it for about 450.

Nothing I've played yet feels or sounds as good as a Taylor, but they are expensive.
