well, i was screwing around trying to put music with a song. i had the F# (2443xx)
and i moved it up the fretboard and found some cool chords.
my question would be, would the next frets up be a G (3554xx)? and then so on?
by the way, i'm not sure about the muting of those top 2 strings.

Yes, it would go G, G#, A, A#, B, C, and so on...
What do you mean by the muting of the top 2 strings? You mean you want them to be muted or you don't want them to be muted?

One thing you might want to experiment with as you move that barre-chord shape up the neck..... if you're playing a chord where one of the open-strings EADGBE is contained in the three notes of the chord's major triad (Tonic, Third and Fifth), you can leave that string open for a slightly different sound. For example an F (normally either 1332XX or 133211). It can be played 1032XX or 103211 because that open-A 5-string is its Third (use your thumb on that 6-string). Same with the G barre-chord 355433. It can be played 350433 (leaving its Fifth D open) or 355033 (adding another First/Tonic G-note) or 355403 (leaving its Third B open). Or an A 577655, like X07655 or X07650, etc. Any of your letter-note chords plus D#/Eb and A#/Bb can be barred up the neck with a string or strings left open. Not some big deal or anything, but sometimes a subtle little voicing change might be what you're after in a particular tune. And always remember, there is no right or wrong chord or shape if it gives you the sound or feel you want to portray in your tune.
