i made a rough draft kind thing on my acoustic guitar and i need some tips on song writing

i listened to your soundclick, and it sounds pretty good.

so you need some help with music...

just mess around, that's how you'll stumble across things that sound decent to you. if you want a song to have a certain sound, think it, then try to play it. sometimes you may have to change your tuning.

open tunings provide an opportunity to create very good sounding riffs, or picking patterns. if you're new to open tuning, the Dm, or D major tuning is a good one to start on. G major and G6 are also 2 good ones.

or make your own tuning. for example, my guitar is tuned weird, i have all the strings tuned half a step down, but then i lowered my Eb to D, making my tuning
D Ab/G# Db/C# Gb/F# Bb/A# Eb/D#

i don't really know if it has any real purpose or if it is even used, but i have a cool riff with it. experiment with tunings.

with chords, try just playing parts of the chord, like G for example, maybe strum the top 3 strings, like xxx033 and then do the bottom 320xxx or something like that. that will work with a lot of chords. play around and see what you find.
