Hey there,
I've been playing my mums Sigma guitar for a while, and while I've been looking around for my own guitar, I haven't seen any other Sigma guitars around. I was wondering if anyone has got one or played on one and what they thought. I think it's pretty good, but thats because it's the only one I've really played on so...
Uhhh... yeah...

I have one, a 6-string steel DM-something or other(can't remember model no.). I have owned & played various other acoustic guitars and think Sigma's quite decent. That flat, wide fingerboard is great for fingerstyle playing. My only gripe is the bass is...I can only describe as tanky, a bit unresponsive.
BTW, Sigma is to Martin as Epiphone is to Gibson.

A Sigma is a fairly good import. As Ihall mentioned, years ago, Sigma used to be Martin's import line (like Epiphone is to Gibson). Sigma guitars were supposedly made to Martin specifications but with cheaper woods to cut costs. The several Sigmas I've played have all been pretty decent guitars. They are a bit thin on the bass (but then so are actual Martins).

Yeah... My first guitar was a Sigma DM3 I think from a local pawn shop. It is a great guitar still to take around as a beater in case and still plays well. It is a bit buzzy past the 14th fret and I'm sure it can be fixed, but I can live with it. Yeah... It really is a decent guitar to start on. Not too expensive in case you don't like it and not crappy enough to cut your desire to play. ~N8

thats what I play on now. mine is in awesome condition except it needs a new nut and has buzzing problems at the 5th fret on the low E and A strings that have been going on since i started playing it a few years ago. they play amazingly well with the right strings. I personally use ernie ball hybrid slinkies for flexibility cause the strings are tight with the crappy replacement nut that i had to get to keep the neck from warping.

Cool, it's just I haven't seen any around and I thought I'd ask
they are quite rare to come by. you can get one that is in good condition for about 400 american if you know where to look. someone told me if i got a bone nut made and got rid of the fret buzzing mine would be worth about 800 bucks canadian and its a foreign import which is pretty good on money but i aint selling it

I've had a sigma steel string and presently own a sigma classical. They're great sounding guitars and often undervalued 'cause no one knows what they are. My classical was only 100$ used in the store where I bought it. Lousy investments, but great musicians instruments.
Just an idea... Not an actual serving suggestion.

better than some crappy guitars that are out there these days. I love mine but it needs some professional work done on it like repairing the frets cause of buzz and a new nut as well
