I want to get the speed Angus Young gets on the intro to ''Thunderstruck''. So I just do this:
CODE
B--704070407(and so on) 805080508(and so on) 704070407(and so on)------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, I think that's how I play it, but does that seem right?

That version of the opening riff looks ass-backwards to me, try this instead:
Taken from here:
Guitar Tab Universe -> Ac Dc -> Thunderstruck 2
Just in case you didn't realise: Angus plays that riff with his left hand only, no picking, just hammer-ons and pull-offs. But I'm sure you knew that, being the bid ACDC fan you are...

nuh-uh!!!
You're wrong!!
You can clearly see (Donnington gig, SARSstock Toronto Rocks gig) and hear (in the actual recording) that EACH note is individually picked. And I read somewhere an interview with Angus saying how he does that. It's much easier to play just hammering on and pulling-off, but in the long run, it's best if you learn to pick it. Use up-stroke for the open notes and down-stroke for the fretted ones. Also, using a VERY thick pick helps.
But otherwise unisonbender, your tab is correct

Well I won't argue with you TOO much about how he plays it, from memory Angus plays the riff with hand in the video clip and it sounded to me like he played it that way in the recording, but it has been years since I have heard the song and live performance > video clip so I'll have concede there. But more importantly: it's not my tab, click the link I posted above to see who wrote it.

I see what you're saying, but when I play it like that I can't play it up to the same speed as Angus. The way I showed you the way I played it makes it sound up to speed with Angus.

Good call. You must be a big AC/DC fan. Can I be your friend? (Yeah, I'm acting like a third grader) You're wrong!!

I've seen AC/DC live twice. Once during the Stiff Upper Lip world tour and once at SARStock.
Angus Young picks out each fretted note, but the open notes are pull-offs.
I'm jealous. And good call.Angus Young picks out each fretted note, but the open notes are pull-offs.
As these two fine people pointed out, Angus does indeed pick the riff out...but, having spent several months over the course of a couple of years learning to play it correctly, I can ascertain it is difficult at first. I played it without picking it out for a while (just hammering and pulling off) until I could comfortably play the riff, then I began playing it slower and picking out the notes, until I could play it up to speed. It's not impossible, just not really easy, either.

Actually everybody is right, he does both. When I saw them on the stiff upper lip tour he was pumping his right fist in the air and playing the riff with his left.
