good question!

i'm going to say Yamaha, but only because I have more experience with their acoustics. however, I hear fab things about takamines, especially from capo2nd. you may want to ask this in acoustic QA as well.

I don't like either, but I'll move it to Acoustic Discussion.

I absolutely love my Tak. They are amazing guitars, and you get alot for your money. Unfortunately, I don't have alot of experience with the Yamaha, so I can't compare the two equally.

Judging just by the brand factor, I'd take the Takamine.

Both should be comparable. The best thing you can do is to find and try both in local shops.

I've got a Yamaha acoustic, and I love it. Having said that, I forked out 700 quid for mine. I've heard excellent things about Taks, so I'm torn I'm afraid!

Over the last few weeks i've tried a few of both. It seems to me (and i'm relatvely new to acoustics) i think the Takamine has the edge. As said above the Yamaha higher end guits do seem to be worth it but if your looking for a specific sound or feel then the Tak is the one to get if you have the cash smile.gif

Just my opinion of course smile.gif

How often do you see a professional playing a Yamaha guitar? Not often is the answer. You see quite a lot of Takamine use though. OK, so that isn't an amazing indicator, but it holds true. In my opinion, Takamine guitars are better than Yamaha, generally speaking.

Takamine. Why would a person buy a guitar from a company who makes ATVs? In my opinion, Yamaha is pretty cheap and not worth anything.

Takamine are better than Yamahas. Dont waste your time with Yamaha guitar unless you are going for a electric at which time you would want a Pacifica but that is a whole different story.
