If you're playing gigs, about every six playing hours. Otherwise it depends on several things. The strings you use, how often you play, how exacting are your personal demands for tone, etc. Probably every month or six weeks for a non-pro moderate player ( or longer with Elixir strings). Generally, your guitar and your ears will tell you when it's time!

I change my strings constantly. Once they lose tone and get dull (unless it is my jazzbox) I change them right away. Buy in bulk and save.

I change mine after about 4 months, or when they get so dirty they look black. I like the sound of old strings for some reason. That's when I was poor.

Now I buy in bulk, $20 for 10 sets of strings.

I just took out my goldie and tried some electric. It was in the case for about 1/2 a year. Now the strings are 1 year old but they're in much better condition than my Tak strings after 3 weeks.

When you see they're dirty , dull sounding, it's time to go. For me it is about a month, but sometimes I keep them up to 2 months, because I'm lazy.

On my acoustic I use Elixirs. I generally restring every 3-5 months, depending how much I've been playing. I like to have a fresh set on a couple of days before a gig to ease them in a little. Generally, it depends how much you play. If you practice at least an hour a day, maybe every six weeks or so. Just pay attention to the condition of the strings and what kind of tone you're getting.

Good advice dadfad. Yes I would say like once a month if you're not gigging and like dafad said every 6 playing hours makes alot of sense when you are gigging. That's like every other gig. cool.gif

They're strings from Musicians Friend. Just as good as any uncoated strings.

Anywhere between 1 and 4 months, if you dont use that guitar to regularly perform.

Yeah, I stole it.
