I'm having some trouble getting this right. I can't quite fit the final note (the open G string) into the pattern without screwing and rhythm up completely. The problem really stems from the fact that I can't even hear that note in the song, but every single tab I've seen for it has it there and my playing without it means the transition between the bars isn't quite right.

Don't quite know what I'm asking for to be honest, just some help really... Thanks

HI RBS,
I've been learning it for a couple of weeks now and I know what you mean about that note. its a pain in the bum lol.
Just keep practicing it and it will come.

play it slow until it becomes second nature thats what i do.

hope this helps

HI RBS,
I've been thinking on what you said, when i do it there is some kind of pause syncopation or something you hold that the previous patten off for a second or two and then play the note and it fits
something like

da da da da pause da

god i'm not making much sense but wanted to help, prehaps dadfad could explain it better.

sorry this probably wasnt much help but i've been mulling it over for days.

syncopated notes in such a rigorous pattern can be a real pain in the butt. dust in the wind's travis picking style can be tough. my advice is to take it slow. that's how i did it.

Hi improvuido,
So I made some kind of sence to you. Its hard trying to explain timing in a way that people understand isnt it.
I just practice things slow and find the timing by feel.

I just wish that I was like dadfad and could do it off the top of my head.
maybe in twenty or thirty years lol.

It helps if you try to emphasize specific melody-line notes within the pattern by picking them slightly harder than the others.
Un-plugged is not the same as
never-was-plugged-in-to-begin-with.

Hi RBS,
the best help I can give you is, learn a little bit of " music theory ".
nobody ever wants to talk about music theory !
truth is ,it's all about timing,, not how it feels.
basic theory,, is the song in 4/4 time ,, 3/4 time ?
how many beats per bar? learn to alway's tap your foot!!!!!!!!!
don't feel bad,, you be surprised how many guitar player's ,bass players, drumers
can't keep a good beat for 3 min's long!!!
that's the hardest part!

learning how to read music at first is'nt much fun!
but once you learn the BASIC'S ....
beatles, Kansas , stones , it becomes more FUN !!
