Again, I'm down to only one guitar and that one happens to be the Wal-Mart one. I'm wondering how much longer the nut is going to hold up now. I use 13's tuned to Eb. My guitar is turned over and restrung, so the slots on the nut don't match the strings. I haven't had any problems as of now, but in the future may there be some? Maybe I'm just paranoid because it's the only guitar I have that works. I can't afford to fix my others, so for the next few months, it'll be all I have.

As you already mentioned the nut has different string-slot sizes. As you get into slightly more expensive acoustics there are other differences too. Most acoustic saddles are slightly angled like this / (<---------------/) for a right handed guitar to compensate for slight string thickness differences. On a left-handed guitar it would be like this <--------------\. Also on the saddle itself the saddle under the G-string also usually has a slight difference in carving to compensate for it being a very thin wound-string, which you may have noticed before on some guitars. Merely flipping the strings will put that carved-comp under the D-string. As a guitar gets slightly more expensive, the bracing under the top changes too in order to enhance bass response and treble clarity.

Out of curiosity, why two? What are the pro's & cons?

The clock of life is wound but once
And no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop at late or early hour
Now is the only time you own
Live, love, toil with a will
Place no faith in time
For the clock may soon be still
