There are simple tunes (or tunes that can be greatly simplified) in almost every genre... folk, country, blues, classic acoustic rock, etc. Choose a genre you like best and start there. You need to narrow it down a bit. I could give "Blowin' In The Wind" and you might hate Dylan/folk. Or give "Hey Joe" and you prefer country tunes. Narrow it down a bit.
Un-plugged is not the same as
never-was-plugged-in-to-begin-with.

You can find a chord version of just about any song out there if you look around a slight bit. I'd suggest just taking a few songs you particularly like and see if you can't find some chord versions of them. It's surprisingly easy enough to play for most songs.

"Happy Together" by The Turtles
"Elenor" by The Turtles
"Draggin' the Line" by Tommy James and the Shondells
"I'm Not Your Stepping Stone" by The Monkees
"Do You Believe in Magic" by The Lovin' Spoonful
"Long Cool Woman" by The Hollies
That should get you starrted.

i know what do you mean...
You know some stuff but not enough to start playing anything you like and want to play something easy and beautiful and no one seams do direct you where you need to go...
If that's the problem may i suggest
7 nations army - white stripes
house of the rising sun - animals
nothing else matters - metallica
one - metallica
come as you are - niravana
where did you sleep last night...
...most of nirvana...
or..
wish you where here - pink floyd
knocking on heavens door - bob dylan
i might get this wrong and i appologise if i do...
...peace and love....

Hi Irish Rover,
Just looked at your profile and I see you're a Rory fan!
I'm also a beginner and I've found some simplified Rory stuff here and there that you might want to try.
You can play Banker's Blues with just 3 chords, G-D-C, the verse of Tattoo'd Lady is just Em-C-D (the chorus is beyond me), and Easy Come, Easy Go is nice and slow to strum along to, Am-Dm-G-C, (There's a Bb in the 'Please don't lock me out' break but it only occurs twice and I just miss it out because i can't play barre chords yet). You can find them here:-
http://www.bluestabs.net/rgtab.htm
And you can get away with just Em and D for Fuel to The Fire if you get creative with the strumming and you can sing well! A nice Canadian lady showed me that one in Cork during the Tribute week!
Also try some Bob Dylan, Don't Think Twice, which Rory covered in some of his later shows is just G-D-Em-C-A7 and C7. You can find it and others here:-
http://www.iol.ie/~murphypj/
Oh and there's a good tab for Unmilitary Twostep in the current (September) issue of Guitar Techniques magazine, worth getting to keep for the day when your fingers catch up with your ambitions!!!
Hope that helps.
