Hi

I'm new to this forum and pretty new to the guitar too. I've got to a certain level by teaching myself with songs from this site and few others but there's loads of stuff i don't understand and i dont know anyone who plays the guitar (well not locally anyway)

So I am hoping someone can help!

What I'm having trouble with is stuff like this:... (intro chords to KT tunstall Otherside of the world)

A7 A6 Aadd9

E|--0---|--2--|--0--|
B|--2---|--2--|--0--|
G|--0---|--2--|--2--|
D|--2---|--4--|--2--|
A|--0---|--0--|--0--|
E|--0---|--x--|--0--|

They do make a real difference if played properly.

----------------------------------------------

Start by playing the (intro chords) on D...

obviously thats the strings down the left side but why does it have A chords at the top when i know the beginning of the intro is in D. (and it says start by playing it in D but how can you play A and D at the same time :-S)

and what are the 2s and 4s for? is it a picking pattern or something? Its just that it doesn't seem to bear any relation to the intro that I can hear on the track.

I'm sure I'm being really thick but I'd really appreciate any help!

Thanks!!!

Sal

The 2's and 4's relate to frets on the strings. You need to cover the fret where the numbers are indicating.

You'll probably also find that those chords and notes are in the key of D, but I couldn't reliably tell you on the account of not really giving a ######.

Another way to write out A7 for instance might be 002020 if you find that easier. Assuming you know some basic chords, by that method, G would be 320033.

Hope that helps...
i've been trying for hours, just to think of what exactly to say.
i thought i'd leave you with a letter or a fiery speech,
like when an actor makes an exit at the end of a play.

could be the tabber just meant for you to strum from the D string down (Top four strings) in the intro, but then full chords after.

Would make sense, however I was assuming it was a typo and they actually meant IN D, not ON D. But either way's good.

The bit you've highlighted isn't the intro... the intro is in D.

That's the wee progression at the end of the bridge. For the line that goes 'When you can't see me anymore'...
