this question certainly is asked alot. anyhow, try out some different types over time and you'll find what kind you like the best. my personal favourite's are D'Addario 's.

Elixirs are coated ones and they last a long time. I don't like them because after a while my fingers got a bit soft. Brass strings have a crisp sound, but they don't last very long. Bronze strings aren't quite as crisp as brass, but they'll last a while longer. There are a lot of different brands out there that use different types of strings. Each has its own feel to them and people like different strings, so only you'll know which are the best for you.

I love D'Addarios for electric
However, I tried acoustic D'Addarios and hate the damn things.

Just depends on what you like. On most of my acoustic guitars I use D'Addario Phosphor Bronze Bluegrass Guage (which is a hybrid set with thicker bass strings).
Un-plugged is not the same as

This is one of those questions to which you aren't going to get any definite answer. You'll get lots of opinion - everyone has their favourites - but that's all the answers will be.

Go try. You're unlikely to really come up against 'bad' strings - provided you don't get them from an 'everything for a pound' shop!

Ernie Balls super slinkys their really light and really cheap and the carry out the sound well.
Or if you want a heavy sound try heavy on top low on bottoms Ernie Balls.
