i need some good johnny cash songs that arn't to hard to sing, i'm helping a student at my old high school with singing. and i though of johnny cash right away since he is a good example of a baritone for this kid. i know that ring of fire, and hurt are pretty easy since i learned them pretty fast. also the kid i'm helping is a baritone and i'm a low bass and an ok baritone, so the high range shouldn't be a problem for either of us.

Johnny Cash songs that arn't hard to sing? ... Are you serious? I'm a big fan, but I have to be honest. Johnny DOESN'T "sing". Just pick any song.

Huh huh -If Johnny didn't sang, well that remains to be seen. Anyway ...

'When the Man Comes Aound' and 'Hung My head' (originally written by Sting) are easy enough (i practiced on the first one recently)

But there's another I particularly like "City of New Orleans' I recommand it cauz it's melody is very similar to Dylan's 'Don't Think Twice'. It's a touching song ...

One of my favorite Johnny Cash tunes is the old traditional Country & Western tune "Tennessee Stud."

Cashdoes sing but his range is so limited that at times if FEELS like he is talking. He knew his limitations and didn't often try to push the limit.

Girl from the North County.
I know Dillan wrote it but I like their version together. Both Dillan and Cash sometimes tend to come in a bit late (which is obvious in this song but gets messy when they do it differently while singing together). rolleyes.gif

I'd go see it just for having Reese Witherspoon... The fact that it's about one of my favorite country proformers is just icing on the cake.

Take it easy there, junior. I was only kidding. I have been a big Johnny Cash fan since before you were a twinkle in your dad's eye.

What I was trying to say was said much better by another poster, that it just sounds like Johnny is talking more than singing because his range is limited.

I think the Lou Reed comment should have had a wink.gif added to it! laugh.gif

They both sing perfect for what they did.

(However I don't think either was invited to join the Beach Boys after Carl Wilson died.)

im sure JC's is good, but it can't touch doc watsons

i like how johnny cash covered whatever the hell he wanted to- he sang traditional tunes, he sang dylan, he sang bob marley's redemption song- he sang nine inch nails (i thought he had written 'hurt' but apparently not)

drakus maximus is right. The remake of hurt is a very good song, to sing and play.
