How much did you purchase this item for?i Paid £799 U.K. (but since buying it i found that u can pick them up online for £699 or there abouts...
Where did you purchase this item? R&B music in Aberdeen Scotland.. (rip off merchants i must say!!!!!)
Is this item new or used? Brand Spanking New.
Features: 2 Gotoh Vintage Mk2 PAF Humbuckers, 2 volume and 2 tone controls and 2 way p/up selector switch..
Construction: see-thru red finish, 2 piece mahogany body, with a 2 piece quilted maple top, 1 piece set mahogany neck, 22 frets, with rosewood fretboard, jumbo fretwire, fixed bridge with stop tailpiece, and kluson style tuners, all hardware by Gotoh Japan.
Sound:Well on buying this guitar i done a bit of research on the specific model and was really put off by the Gotoh p/ups thinkin that i would have to replace them ASAP, but i was amazed by the sound quality they produced, they have a really crisp clean tone and with the amp on overdrive channel(i have a marshall jcm2000tsl 100w head) i actually had to turn the gain down to just past 5 (my other guitars require the gain to be almost full whack to get that meaty sound) the pickups are very high output and they would suit most styles of playing... i dont think i will be changing them in the near future, they are really great sounding p/ups..
Ease of Use: The guitar came setup perfectly from the tokai factory, the action set at the perfect height for my playing, and it intonates beautifully in all positions on the neck, every other guitar i have purchased has had to be sent to a guitar tech to have a pro setup before i have felt totally comfortable playing it, but with tokai it was playin the way i like it straight out of the box, truely awesome piece of equipment!!!!
Reliability: I would feel totally comfortable gigging with just this guitar and no back up so far it has been 100% reliable although the strap buttons are pretty gay as the guitar always detaches itself from the strap due to the buttons being to small... thats easily sorted with a pair of jim dunlop strap locks though...
Overall: Overall i would give this guitar 9 out of 10 the only thing i could fault with this axe is the strap buttons everything else is perfect, to anyone out there who swears by gibson les pauls i recommend they go out and try one of these Japanese(not korean) tokais coz they are a lot better sounding/feeling guitars than anything that gibson are putting out these days and for a fraction of the cost to....
here is some pics of my new tokai, to show the quality of the workmanship...
