They found drugs in one of Hendrix's accoustics.

"Hear My Train 'A Comin' " is a phenominal tune. There are a number of Hendrix tunes that are pretty conducive to being done acoustically, like "Hey Joe" and "And The Wind Cries Mary." I've done both of those many times as solo-acoustic tunes. I posted the tab for my "Hey Joe" here before (it used to be in the archives) and I'll probably do "Mary" pretty soon. I used to have a recorded acoustic version of Hendrix doing "Red House" but it was on a cassette in my truck when it was stolen a few years back. Nothing extraordinary, just good (after all, it was Hendrix!).

Why Didnt Hendrix ever do a proper acoustic album. No drums no nothing just him and an old acostic. It would have been so good.
from interviews i saw with noel redding it seems he was going towards blues and acoustic stuff just before he died. i think we were due one but lost the great man before he could deliver

I met his former long-time girlfriend Pat Hartley at a party in New York once shortly after he died. She said basically the same thing. She'd talked to him on the phone and he said he was coming back to the US, dumping his present g/f and was going into strictly blues, both electric and acoustic, in the old-school direction. He was having conflicts with himself artistically because he was not really "connecting" with his roots and with his own-people (his following was almost totally white of course). He'd hoped working with Buddy might have expanded his audience, but it hadn't and so he was going to make big changes in direction and his music. He was gonna do it soon, just as soon as he "got himself together." Which of course he never had the chance to do. Really a shame. It could have been of major significance to have had the most innovative guitarist of the last half of the 20th Century really dig into Blues. A pity.

Wow, it pains me to read that.
One can only wonder what he could have done.

Thanks! That's now probably #3 on my "to-do list." (After "Hard Time Killing Floor" and then, probably, Big Bill Broonzy's "Long Tall Mama.") And I'll try to listen for John Mayer's version, it sounds interesting.

Theres a Jimi album called "Acoustic Jams" that i've had for a while. It's mostly a work in progress and studio outtakes but i still enjoy it. Do a google search for it or try pirating it.
