Just little under 45min. ago of me typing this, I finished recording a song. It's by far the heaviest and longest song I've recorded. It comes out to about 5:10 long, although I think they best song I can compare it too is probably "Chop Suey" by System of a Down on acoustic guitar. It's not quite as heavy and not where near the same genre, but I think ya'll get the idea.

Anyway, my thing is, after I finished, I immediatly set my guitar down, dropped to my knees and let my arms hang at my side. I was proud and had the wonderful feeling on the inside, but my throat hurt from the singing and my arm and wrist hurt from playing. Is this common, after two years worth of playing??

Yes.

Two years isn't nearly enough time to build up any kind of endurance. though, kudos for being able to record such a long song after only two years. i'm going on 5 or 6 and I've never really recorded a full song.

Well, I take that back. Me and my friends recorded a song, but I'd do it a lot more often if I could sing tongue.gif

Very common. I wouldn't know about singing, I don't sing that much... But sometimes after playing too much you can get a hand cramp, is what I call it. My wrist and fingers hurt or my hand gets too warm and I stop playing. It lingers around for a few days. I suggest that you put a bandage(sp?) around your wrists so it doesn't move. Once I twisted my wrist playing guitar and it hurt each time I played, so I wrapped it with bandages and stopped playing for a while, since I had a jam session with some friends in a few days.

Yep. also because you just aren't use to recording that long and I guess playing that hard. You said it was the first time you recorded a song that long and you said you were playing pretty hard. You got excited and it just came to you after you were done. beleive me. its happened to many guitarists before. it's happened to me. yesani.gif

If I play for a long time, especially something complicated, my fingers still hurt. I've been playing over 11 years.

I've come to find that my finger joints hurt if my hands are cold. Maybe a side effect of guitar playing.

Well yeah. I'd madea couple of attempts at it first. Getting about a minute or so into it before messin' up the lyrics. I also played casually for about an hour before that. So, it could have just been the mix of ALL of that stuff put together, but I think that song is what put it over the stop.

Yes that is very common. Give yourself time to build up endurance.
