John Jackson Tunes For those who like that kind of music

Updated 9/15/06 with new link.
Several guys here have wanted to hear some of the tunes played by John Jackson but sometimes found it difficult to find his stuff for sale. Or didn't have the extra money to shell out for a CD, and I understand that. I've d/l'ed a few of his tunes (seven to be exact) onto a SoundClick bandpage I'd had set up already for demonstrating a tune awhile back. I know I'm not supposed to do that, but I did it anyway. Anyone who wants to hear them or d/l them, here is the address NEW LINK 9/15/06 to do so. I allowed copying, etc. of the tunes. The last tune on the page (entitled My Police Dog Blues) is not one of his tunes but merely me playing several rounds of Blind Blake's tune using a cheap-program to demonstrate the tune to someone, so ignore that tune. The other seven are John's. I noticed sometimes (but not always) the tunes played back better in lo-fi than in hi-fi. I don't know why. Maybe it's just my computer, or whatever. I don't know. Anyway...
I'm only going to leave those tunes up temporarily, because I know I'm not supposed to. Copyrighted material, etc, etc, etc, blah-blah-blah. John is dead. So is his wife and son. His heirs don't need the few pennies the royalties for sales might generate. I know if John were alive he'd be glad to do it himself. He believed the music was meant to be shared and, as he told me the first time I ever met him many years ago, "Just pass it on."
I hope you like them.

No problem. I plan to do similar things with some other hard-to-find stuff by him and other artists. I have an entire live John Jackson concert I recorded around 1986 using (at that time) state-of-the-art portable Fostex analog equipment which I now have copied to a CD (I have several more of his complete in-concert live things on metal-tape.) As soon as I take the time to break it up (it's now just one extremely long single track-number that is too large of a file to copy to SoundClick) I'll put that up. And other things too.
Anyway, this first one is a start at trying to pass along some good but hard-to-find examples of good music. I hope you like it.

One of those tunes is on my to-do list of tabs. The tune "Diddy Wah Diddy." It's several tunes from the top but I hope to get to it before long.

Thanks mate, classic tunes. I love it
Anyone gonna tab these or are there already tabs out there?

You're welcome! He did a lot of tremendous stuff. There are no decent tabs around (to my knowledge) of his material. It's pretty difficult stuff to tab. I've done a tab or two of tunes he played but none of the ones there. I plan to do one of them soon though, the tune "Diddy Wah Diddy." When I get it done I'll post it here. I have a couple of other tunes by others I'm working on now, but when I get them done I'll work on that one and post it.

I appreciate that old chap. You are a spiffingly good man
That one and matchbox blue are my faves from the ones there. Great sound.
Thanks again

Matchbox is a great one. The version I do myself of that tune is not too different from John's version but I tend to go a little more toward the old Blind Lemon Jefferson version. I have lots of live recordings by John Jackson as well as all of his commercially recorded stuff. One concert I have, when he was feeling a little... er... adventurous... he did an incredible descending run in the guitar break which actually got him a standing ovation from the crowd. I plan to post that entire live performance as soon as I can re-record it breaking it down from a single very long CD-track into several tracks small enough to be accepted by SoundClick. In any case, Matchbox is a great tune.
