Dent AHHHH

Hey everyone, now don't think I don't care about my guitar because I love it. The other day when i came home from school my acoustic Yamaha FG 412S had fallen off the stand. I must of not put i all the way on and it has a dent on either side of the head, it landed between my bed and dressed. The one dent is only about an 8th of an inch and is on the front of the head, and the second is right on the corner. This one is about a quarter inch long and maybe and 16 of an inch deep int he middle. I was wondering if anyone would know what this would cost (in canadian dollars) to be fixed, or if there is a way to fix it myself. Thanx everyone

i took a decent sized chip outta the headstock for my dean, and freaked out right away, but then i realized that it does add character.
and for those guys who "never ever ever dent or scratch" their precious babies...they're tools and are obviously afraid of playing their guitar.
dents, scratches, and dings happen w/ time and regardless of how "careful" you are with the guitar(s), something like that will be bound to happen.

There are many types of crazy glues used for fixing guitar surfaces. Do a google search (guitar repair glues) and you should find what you are looking for. Even epoxy might work. Fill in the dent and touch it up with stain, varnish or what have you.

I wouldn't worry about it much. Myself, if something's a relatively easy fix and a bit of touch-up stain or rubbing-out will fix it, then okay. I want my guitars to look as good as they can WITHIN REASON, but I don't stress-out over a dent or a ding or a scratch too much. The guitar starts out new and then Life makes little lines and dings and wrinkles and cracks. Just like a human face begins to have them from experience and living Life, so does a guitar. I'd never refinish a nice old guitar any more than I'd get my face lifted! But I'd reinforce a top-crack just like I'd splint my arm if I broke it. I take care of my guitars, but I'm not obsessive about it. I want 'em to work, not just be pretty! Let those anal-guys who wrap their guitars in lamb's-wool and nuclear attack-proof sub-cases and wipe it off and polish it after every time it's touched and treat it like it's a new-born baby in an egg-shell and have a hissy-fit if someone touches it do what they want. A guitar, like the person who plays it, was created to experience Life.

Yeah man, do you think that Robert Johnson cared about dents in his guitar....
He was probably more worried about what he was going to eat that night.
