hi all... guitar.gif

i've narrowed it down to the Norman B20 and the Seagull S6 both Canadian made (in my budget).

the problem is that both this model is not sold locally, i have to order it from a shop 500 miles away!! so i can't try out both of em argghhhh.... my local shop carries yamaha, samick, sx, fina and some other cheapo imitations.

so if any of u guys out there tried either of these models please lemme know how it went. better if someone tried em both.

i play mostly everything but i leave the rock/metal/alternative part to my Epiphone LP Custom and classical, poppish tunes, fingerpicking to my soon to own acoustic.

help much appreciated smile.gif

I have a Norman ST-40 Cedar top and also a Martin D-21 Custom Shop, the mellow sound from the Norman is really nice and my girlfriend always says that it sound just as nice as the Martin, until i whack her over the head with it. laugh.gif I would recommend this guitar to anyone. Costs a bit more but is worth it.

I have checked out reviews of the B-20 has a solid spruce top and the reviews are'nt that good. The S6 has a solid cedar top with wild cherry back & sides and the reviews are good. Links underneath smile.gif

Should really try them all before you by. Before I bought my Martin I must have tried around 20-30 acoustics looking for the right tone yesani.gif

If its between the B-20 and the S6 then i'd take the entry level Seagull instead of the entry level Norman. guitar.gif

I have an S6. I like it alot, but the action was too high when I got it. The fella that sold it to me lowered it some , but it was still a little high, so I took the bridge off and sanded it down a little more myself....now it's just right.

Be careful with that cedar, it soft and easy to scratch.

I dig the S6. Great sound for a budget guitar.

I would think high humidity wouldn't be a problem, I talked with an old student of mine this evening, and he was unhappy about having his acoustic spilit on him while in Arizona where it's rather dry.

Yep, too bad, but he didn't know the guitar was in danger till it was too late. A snuff can with little holes in the lid and a damp sponge in it might have saved his bacon.

I have a Norman B-20, and it's great. I chose it over the Seagull S6 actually. Great price too. It was 500 Canadian with a HSC.

well i think its down to personal preferences... gotta try em all. even if you try 3 norman B20s each just might not sound the same. each have its individual characteristics cos its not mass produced, it comes from a tree and no one piece of wood can be 100% the same, even more if it comes from a different tree.

just buy what you feel most at home/peace playing it....

peace and cheers smile.gif
