I saw both of these guitars and instantly became interested. They look both like quality acoustics from looks alone, but I haven't gotten the chance to play either. Im currently looking to possibly buy a new acoustic, and was wondering if these are indeed good guitars. Thanks for any help.

I think for the price, (about $350 US), they're pretty good guitars - they both have solid tops, so their tone will improve with playing, and the quality & workmanship is pretty good too. Just don't buy one expecting it to be as good as a pre-war herringbone D-28...

I wish I had some personal experience with either to help you with but eh... One thing though, if you are looking into buying a moderately priced accoustic I would recommend a Takamine GS330S, its $299 and sounds amazing, but I guess I am bias because I own one. You should know though, that it might be the most basic looking guitar I have ever seen... no dot inlays etc.
With the takamine you pay for the sound, IMO, with the epiphone you pay for the name. Check it out, and most of all, go to your nearest guitar store and try them all out after all you are the one that will be playing it, different people have different preferences, but the takamine is a damn good sub $500 guitar.

..oh, and the takamine has a solid Cedar top, whereas i think that the other two have a spruce top. again, in my opinion, cedar has a much deeper aged tone.

I thought about getting the Epiphone Dove acoustic guitar a few weeks back (Wanted a new acoustic guitar,)
but when I saw the Alvarez RD-8 at my local guitar shop, I fell in love with it! It has good sound, and I paid 180.00 for it (220.00 on musiciansfriend.com though.) I love it!!! I would suggest getting the Alvarez RD-8, or you could pay 350.00 and get the Ibanez AW 120 which is a tiny bit better quality (Not much) and pay almost half as much! Hope it helps!

Personally I'd get the hummingbird. I'd get them both if I had the money I like them both for their looks. I think they're just good guitars to play live. They're a type of show guitar.

Thanks for that Silver -- You really are one great poet as well as a songwriter with a mind of your own. Really- Dorio
