It had not happened in year so you can imagine my surprise when I heard that SNAP and realized it was the A string (on my acoustic) So I proceeded to replace the whole set
But in doing so, I don't know what I was thinking about (my mind went wandering) as I kept on turning the tuning peg: another *SNAP* and to my horror I realized the new A string broke as well (from the nut not the bridge)
Now this was unprecedented (the strings were of a thick gauge (10.) and of cheap quality too: (Indian made)
And as I didn't have a spare set available I had to do something I never did before: try to fix the broken A in the in the low E hole as the remaining lenght of the string seemed to fit in but only just. And obviously I had to put my low E in the A hole.
I tuned It standard and proceeded to play all afternoon. This happened before yesterday and I felt the need to announce I had changed my strings (I don't change em as often as I'm supposed to). so to give this topic some direction have you experienced similar cases when stuck without a spare set of strings and had to use unconventional ways to be able to play...

Never. I always have spare sets w/ me.
So have you fixed it or are leaving it like that since it works now?
