arm falling asleep while playing

Alright, so this is a stupid topic, but I have found that whenever I rest my right arm on the guitar while playing landslide, or some of the other easierfingerpicking songs in which i can simply rest my right arm on the guitar, that after a while my arm falls asleep, my fingers get heavy and then I have to stop playing, twirl my hand a little bit to get some more blood flowing. Anyway I was wondering if this could be avoided in any way, I do play sitting down, so I guess I could stand up or something. Anyone else ever had this problem?

Sounds like your resting your arm across the body of the guitar and its cutting off the circulation. I guess that you know that your arm gets affected that way then maybe if you just keep it in mind to move it off the body a bit as your playing every now and then.

I can't tell you exactly, since I'm not positive HOW you're resting your arms. But I think if you more or less let your bicep rest on your guitar, it might help out. I'm not positive, since I don't have a guitar that is quite good enough to work with. I've only got my Ovation since I gave my brother my other guitar. ANYWAY, I think that if you just mess around with different ways to rest your arm you'll be good.

my arm falls asleep another way......it doesn't involve guitars. it involves the "stranger."
but, to the topic at hand, it seems like you might be leaning over ontop of the guitar, thus maybe forcing your arm to be jammed against your body and the guitar, which could make the blood get cut off quicker.

You shouldn't be "resting" on the guitar at all. The more your body touches the guitar, the less tone you get from your guitar. Ever notice how good your guitar sounds when you put it away in the case? That is because nothing was touching it.

that took me...a really long time to get...I was like huh? for literelly five minutes.
Do you realize how tired you would become if your arm didnt rest at all on your guitar?

Yeah. I'm with you.
Don't slump your whole body over your guitar. Sit straight and let your arm just sort of lay there...try to keep your BODY from touching THE body...but you can also control your music....strum a G or something with your body close to the guitar...the let the guitar fall away and you'll hear the tone difference.
