I bought my 1964 Gibson ES-125 from an old woman whose husband had died recently. She said he was a long-time banjo-player but had always expressed some interest in learning to play guitar. She bought it new for him for Christmas of 1964. She said he took it out of the case, strummed it, commented on what a great present it was and laughed "First I gotta learn to tune it!" Then he put it back in the case, which was never opened again for over twenty-five years. She wanted $300 for it. I told her it was probably worth more... mint-condition vintage Gibson, etc. She said no, she just wanted what she'd paid for it and that the $300 would buy him a headstone, and he needed a headstone now more than he needed a guitar! So I have it, all the tags were still hanging from the headstock, never played. Just like new.
