Could someone please tab out the melody for Imagine, I want to be able to play it as some sort of guitar solo. So if anyone could help I would love you for ever. I tried to figure it out myself playing with the chords to it but I'm not quite good enough for that. cheers.gif

If you just mean a melody following the vocal-line, let me know what key you're doing it in or better yet copy your chord-tab here that your using and I'll do it.

I got a copy of it from a special "Guitar World" on Lennon that they did in December marking the 25th anniversary of his murder.

Do you prefer all or mostly single notes, or do you want simple chording and chord-fragments mixed in? (For playing with a second guitar, either would work fine. For a solo guitar, chording would sound a bit fuller.)

Okay, here it is. I couldn't post it yesterday afternoon because GTU kept being messed up when I'd try to post. Which was okay because as I looked at it, I wanted to add some more stuff, so actually I did it twice. I did the first one and I thought after I looked at it I started getting a little too "chord-y" in how I did it, and so I did another one that was almost completely single-notes close to the vocal-melody with very few chords. I also did a sort of simple intro at the beginning just loosely going between the C to F thing, a few hammers, etc, thrown in. I did a Sound Click (LINK) for the first one where it was a little more complex timing-wise played fairly slowly (please excuse the crappy tone from Audacity). I didn't think the second one I did later really needed it. Anyway, I hope one or the other of them (or a mixture of both) is sort of what you were looking for. (If you need anything here in more detail, like fingering positions or something, just let me know.) And let me know if it helps.

IMAGINE
by John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

just an added thought . . . on the booklet to the John Lennon Acoustic album there are chord charts for all of the songs on the disc, including Imagine . . . and John used the Fmaj7 chord extensively . . . where dadfad has the choice between the F, Cmaj7, and Fmaj7 . . .

sounds great though

Being a person who moreless improvises every tune I do, and generally playing in a sort of "moving-fingerstyle" I don't usually define a chord in an exact hard and fast way, or will just call it in its simplest form, expecting little voicing changes and permutations around it as its being played. In that tune I'd use the major-7 form most often, but often adding a lower note(s) as a sort of walking-bass in places. So in that first chorded-verse part I just called simple basic chords.
