I recently moved to the Boston area, and while I was in between apartments my Guitars were in storage. When
the movers delivered my stuff, I noticed the case for my acoustic was damaged. The black covering had been torn along an edge for about ten inches exposing the wood underneath. I inspected the Guitar, and gave it a few strums. It seemed fine so I put it away. Last night I finally got it out, tuned it, and played it. This is where I discovered a problem. There is a very loud buzz coming from inside the body up near the neck somwhere. It's caused by a Harmonic of some sort, because it only does this when the open G string is struck. It's not a fret buzz, or the nut. It's not the bridge either. It's coming from inside somewhere. I've felt around inside, with no luck, everything feels solid, including the neck, but if pressure is applied to the neck in any direction it stops. I took it to a local guitar shop. The tech there was as mystified as I was.
Does anyone have any Idea as to what might have caused this this? Also Can anyone recommend a good repair shop within an hour or so of Boston?
Thanks!

Each note has a different frequency, so maybe that open G is giving the right frequency and vibration to cause that buzz. There is something loose in there most likely. If they were in storage for a while, the moisture levels in the air could've been too dry causing the wood to contract a bit causing that buzz.
Barring that, if your case took a hit that could've done something to your guitar, but that's not too likely because it seems the damage is more of a cut than a crush.

I had that problem. Change the strings out and see if it continues. Sometimes it's a bad wind.
