If you really want to upgrade that badly, save up your money some. Save it so you can get a real upgade. Like, upgrade to a nice Gibson or Taylor. Even a Martin. I figure if you plan on upgradind, then do it right.

Naturally you can't expect a gem for $300, but there are some good ones to be had. Looking at used guitars is one way to go. There are a lot of brands out there, so if you do come across one you think may be good just drop a line here and someone can probably tell you if it's worth it.

If you want to go new, Yamaha has some new models out that are around $300. That's US dollars. I don't know what that would convert to is Australian dollars. Alvarez also has a few in that price range. Fender has a lot of acoustics in that price range, but some of those guitars aren't all that great.

in that case save up your money
Let the pretend take over
And that season be the first
Shadows we're in become us
So we set up interspersed
Between here and away
Become your space every day

As dadfad told me that someone told told him, or he heard from someone, anyway it goes

"Guitars is like pússy, some of them is better than others but ain't none of them bad."

Unless you gig, there's no real reason to buy some expensive guitar. Even if you do gig, there are a lot of good guitars out there for $200-$500. I've had one really nice guitar, but I've never let that spoil me. I know people who once they get a nice guitar, anything under $600 is unacceptable. I can outplay people who have Gibsons, high end Fenders, Marshalls, all that bull###### with my $250 Peavey. Skill is skill. A name on a headstock or a price tag won't add to it.

To a point I agree, but once you hear that tone of an all wood Taylor or Gibson, it is very hard to go back to a laminate. They all sound "dead" to me now even w/ new strings.

There's a difference between NEED and WANT. The trick is to balance the two. wink.gif

As far as no "real" reason to need a high end guitar.....wanting one is reason enough for me.
