to be honest mate, all your gonna get is a load of this: dduuddudududuududududu and so on and so forth.

i tend to think that this is the most impossible thing to learn. just listen to the song and try to play along. you'll get it with practice.

no mate, that wasn't a strumming pattern for anything. it was just an example of the ###### that people will give you.

what i'm trying to say is can you imagine yourself sitting with your guitar looking at something like this:

dududuuudduduudduudududuudud

and then really geting anything useful from it. it wont feel natural. just try to work it out for your self and you'll feel great when you do eventually do it.

Learning about rythms helped me a bit, if you've just started out though I think you should check that the song isn't too advanced and do what the above poster said.

When he says dduddud he means down down up etc with your strumming pattern.

Really though, he's right. If you've got the chords, and can change between them ok, just play along with the CD. Thinking too much about strumming can make things a bit more complicated than they are.

Seriously, just pay the chords whilst you're listening.

If you can, find a program that will slow the tempo down without changing the pitch. I use Cool Edit Pro. It would also be a bonus if it separated the tracks within the song. This is also good for learning the leads....

Strange choice of songs, both of the have got dodgy tuning. TKC has a strummin pattern thats mainly a quick repeated DDUUDU. As said horrible eBGCAC tuning

Thats tunings also used for Coldplay's version of "Ring Of Fire" similar chords. Good song from the maestro Johnny Cash biggrin.gif and everyone knows it.
