I've had my g string break twice since I got my new acoustic which has only been about a month or so. It is breaking right down at the tuning head. So I'm not sure what it could be. I use wound G-strings and it is really going to annoy me if it breaks frequently.
Any thoughts on what might be causing it to break??

If it's breaking right at the machine-post make sure there's no rough edge on the pressure-side of the post-hole and that you have at least three or four turns around it when you change strings. (A piece of very fine sandpaper rolled into a small cone and used in the hole's edge might help if it is.) If it's breaking at the nut, or between the nut and the machine, make sure the nut-groove for the string is wide enough (It can be expanded slightly if necessary by using a piece of the same guage old G-string running it back and forth almost like a file.). You might want to try a bit of graphite in that string-groove for lubricant to make sure it isn't sticking as you try to tune or tighten it. (A bit of graphite from the tip of a pencil should do it.) Hopefully some of this helps.
