Thick As A Brick (43:43)
A legendary album in legendary packing. The album contains a single song, with the cover being a newspaper article claiming that the lyrics were written by an 8-year-old boy, but that he had a poor attitude for his God and country and lost his prize.
The song contains various movements, starting with a mellow, semi happy-feeling acoustical section, the happy feeling of the music contrasting with the more cynical lyrics. It becomes heavier shortly, with excellent work on organ and electric guitar. The second half is rung in with a brilliant drum solo, and there are lyrics throughout that discuss problems with society in a poetic and highly literate way, making the notion that an 8-year-old boy could have written them completely preposterous. Amazing lyrics and music, I find myself listening to this song/album every other day at the very least.
