it depends what kind of pedals you have. i have a pearl double pedal, and you can adjust the throw of the beater arms by loosening the heel pad and sliding it back and forth. Thus, it can be set to hit the drumhead "quicker" because the beater has less distance to travel, and it also uses less downward force from your foot. hope this helped.

Double Bass Pedal Practice?
I was hoping that this topic would be on the Double Bass instrument...

Hmm... Maybe I should practice drumming again?

If you're still checking this thread...

Danny Carey (Tool) has often mentioned a great exercise he uses to work on his double bass/kick chops. What he does is practice snare patterns with his feet. He claims that this is a huge reason why he has gotten his double kick chops up to where they are now. And he is certainly an unbelievable drummer.

Playing through rudiments certainly helps. I'd doubt if pedal adjustments would be the deciding factor on your improvement. Make sure your seat position is correct for your height- you want a comfortable angle between yourself and your kit, and too far back is always better than too close.

Otherwise, it's all in the practise, man. Keep it up.

metronome, and whenever your just chillen flap your feet as if you had a double bass in front of you...all of the speed is in your muscles so make sure they are toned nicely.
