My question is If you already know how to play the guitar. How hard would it be to learn to play the violin?

Still gonna be hard, it really is very different.

Good luck, and if the sounds you produce on the violin sound like cats in pain, don't worry too much, it's almost always like that in the beginning.

Yeah, it's still gonna be pretty tough. The only thing that will apply is mostly just any basic theory knowledge you've learned. I've been playing (trying to play) for a few years now and I'm still pretty rough. When something comes out that actually sounds pretty good isn't all that often. Of course I rarely practice, but it isn't that related to playing guitar at all. No more than say the piano or something.

Um a few pages back in this forum should be one of many threads we have about learning violin. I don't remember which thread it'd be but someone laid down some great guidelines on how to make the transition. It included precise measurements and marking the ....notfret board with tape to show you where the equal temperment frets would be. You'll eventually have to learn to adjust the tunings of notes for every note you play, but that's later. I'd play very slowly at first. Practice? Sorry I'm not a violinist I'm just trying to think of howd I'd learn my hypothetical 11th instrument.

the technique is totally different, but the dexterity of your fretting hand helps, and so does any music theory you already know.
