OK, i was browsing through the lessons, and I was switching back and forth through the lesson and chordfind and I thought it would be much easier if GTU had a list of chords or a chord search.

And a cool added capability would be that if you hover over a chord in a post, it would have a little pop bubble thing with a picture of the chord.

what would you all think?

Do you mean something like this

If so that would be pretty cool

yeah, exactly, but also if I have a tab like this ---A------G#-----Asus2----Cadd2/B , to be able to hover over the chords we don't know, or have like a little text box to enter it in the same page so we can see what it looks like. I think it would be a big hit.... but no one ever looks at the help and feedback section other than rob.

I like the idea, I don't know how feasible it is though.

It would be like puting a chord recognition engine in front of Acroym bbcode.

I have already written somthing very similar in javascript. I remember it took a bit of work though.

EDIT:
I like the idea so much that I think I might download the Firefox SDK and see if I can make a FireFox plugin for it.

EDIT:
I got it to load! I wub.gif FireFox!

For a low low special introductary price you can have your very own chordfinder plug in..but wait!! There's more..if you order now we'll also include a pervasive sense of well being at no addtional cost to you. You get the plug in from Bax™ a name you can trust and happiness all in one convient plug in... Order now!

I will be posting a version and install instructions for beta testing probably this weekend. I need time to build a chord library etc.
I also need to finish making icons for the chord display.

Right now it is implemented as a contextual menu (right click) on text that brings up a dialog box to look up your chord or construct your chord with alternate fingerings.

wow, if i'm not mistaken, you're spamming in the website help and feedback forum. It may be funny, but really unnecessary.

Anyway,
@Claptonman: we had a list of chords?? when? well, I think if this is now somewhat of a guitar lesson site, we should have some sort of chord list, maybe a tuner, a beginners guide (for absolute begginers, and up to intermediates, and advanced things). I mean stuff like other than the lessons forum. like real tutorials, in a series of chapters, tiers, primers, whatever you wanna call them. We should really try and make this site, the ultimate guitar/bass players resource site. It would bring much more traffic, and a lot more people willing to provide useful feedback to the forums, hopefully.

however, with that brings more spammers.... but we have plenty of mods, and hopefully they have all been well chosen for their tasks, and don't add or promote spam.

I had a nifty chord program at home on a CD that I bought, it had pretty much every single guitar chord. If I had it, I would gladly make a write up of all the chords for Bax's plug-in.

I think the idea is good was just showing an example I think would be a good model to work from.
