I dont know how many other members got the same message from someone trying to promote their forum, this isnt the first time in my time here I have recieve spam email messages through my inbox here. I was curious as to know whether there is a way to report users through the inbox without messaging a mod.

I got one, and I decided to help, given that I'm also looking for people to promote a forum I post at. I wouldn't be as "abusive" though.

That's a tough one seeing as it is advertising however. Major took care of him.

Let the pretend take over
And that season be the first
Shadows we're in become us
So we set up interspersed
Between here and away
Become your space every day

Smashy is GTU's most common reporter. Fact. I also know from a good source that most of his reports are for stupid reasons. Fact.

How about getting the report button hidden from him when he's logged in? Can it be done?

sleep.gif In the computer forum Smashy actually points out valid spam which deserves deletion.

So what, you got a problem with that? I only report what is necessary. I dont go around reporting other users for beinging forum rules, ask any of the mods and they will tell you that I only report spam topics in Guitar Q&A and any other forum outside Discussion, since the other forums dont have as many moderators watching them and at least some people are arsed to make them aware. Its not attempt to be a kissass either, I am doing what needs to be done. So as Frank Zappa once said "Shut up N play yer guitar". tongue.gif

You have yet to ever actually put in some useful advice in threads and instead just argue with people who know more things then you do, especially me so cut the crap. After what Jen posted the other day about your warning log, it is completely accurate of how you contribute on this forum which is basically nothing, so just run along, or start making some intelligent input into topics, especially in Guitar Q&A instead of just arguing.

Actually, contrary to what you just said, it was a mod that told me the opposite. You report far too many posts, most of which don't need reporting.

Since when. The only time I ever report people is for spam advertisers or people who are using GTU as a method of promoting their own sites, thats against forum rules unless you are too blind to read. I am doing what is necessary, you know the forum rules just as well as I do and its high time the mods stopped being soft on people who do bend the rules.

Well just ignore what they think, if certain mods dont feel the need to lock threads that I reported even though they are in violation of forum rules then that is their problem and they can talk to me if they dont feel the need to lock specific topics, however I dont want BS excuses like some of the ones I have heard. The mods used to lock topics by people promoting their own guitar sites, however they seemed to have stopped as of recently, so I have yet to understand why they have changed all of a sudden, especially in Guitar Q&A, I reported that thread about Guitar-Chat.com and it is still open, that was a week ago. So I would like to know a legitimate reason why the mods arent locking those threads anymore.

I am not trying to berate any of the mods, I just would like a good reason as to why they have changed their policies.

I have a curious question as well seeing as how I am still here. In the forum rules it states that requesting anything that is considered illegal is against the rules. I find it odd that GTU, which has become a site that no longer provides tabs, yet the Tab Request forum still exists, since logic dictates that tablature is illegal according to the copyright laws. So why is linking to other tabs and providing tablature considered ok? I know we arent hosting tabs as well which isnt illegal but a lot of people (not folks on this site), myself included believe that if you are linking and providing illegal information to people, that would be against the rules.

Because we, as GTUers, are supposed to believe that guitar tablature posted on the internet isn't illegal, as long as it's the tabber's own interpretation.

True enough. But who is to say whether it is an interpretation or a complete copy out of a book. I mean if its 100% accurate to what you see in a book, then it is to be assumed that it was copied no? Nobody knows for sure which songs are copied and which ones are not.

Well obviously. Anyway I was thinking, if the forum rules dont like people posting things that are considered illegal, then why is there a Torrent guide in the Computer forum and why are we allowed to ask for cracks and stuff for software without getting in trouble for it? I should probably discuss this with Igor though cause he is the mod of that forum.

I wouldn't bother. Stop causing trouble. It's not illegal to download a torrent. It's what you do with it afterwards that matters. Stop trying to nit-pick.
