Hey guys, I'm pretty new to this board but it seems very helpful. I love going to shows and seeing if bands can actually sound just as good live. I went with a co-worker of mine from UMGD to check out a band called The New Rivals and they were pretty sick live. Has anyone else heard of them?? They're a punk band from NY and they have some pretty dope songs. They're pretty fast paced which made the show even better. They kinda remind me of Hot Water Music. If you're into punk you have to give them a listen at www.myspace.com/thenewrivals What other bands have you guys seen recently that are good live??

I saw Dave Matthews Band two years ago, and I'm seeing them again this year. They are one of the most amazing live bands I've ever seen.

Of the shows I've seen it's between the Eagles and The Moody Blues for who has the best tightest most well performed live shows. (Especially amazing is the Moodies are down to 3 of 5 members, with about 4 backing musicians to replace the two that no longer are with the band!)
However from looking up stuff about the music I enjoy I am told that Renaissance and 73-74 King Crimson were also superb live acts. Also the Grateful Dead seem to be a different kind of best. Not so musically tight and polished, but a whole lot more creative and in tune with the moment and the crowd. None of this I can speak for myself.
The Eagles and the Moodies I can!

Yeah. I help out a friend's band with photographs and also general advice on stuff. So I'm familiar with the central valley's metalcore scene. Most of these bands suck entirely. A few have potential, but it's hard to say what kind considering I can't relate to the thrashathrashaihateeverythingaaarggghhhhhangst music.
